My current practice at CAM LLP is focused primarily on representing injured people and helping them navigate the medical, financial and legal consequences of a serious injury. I have extensive experience representing people injured in motor vehicle accidents and other incidents, including clients dealing with chronic pain, orthopedic injuries, brain injuries, psychological injuries, loss of income and significant future care needs.
One of the things I enjoy most about personal injury law is that every client and every case is different. A significant part of my practice involves understanding complex medical evidence and working with physicians, rehabilitation professionals and other experts to understand not only a client’s diagnosis, but how an injury has affected their work, family life and day-to-day functioning.
I have represented clients through all stages of the litigation process, including questioning, mediation and settlement negotiations. I particularly enjoy the strategic side of litigation and determining what evidence is needed to properly present a claim and what approach is most likely to achieve a fair result.
In addition to personal injury law, I have experience advising and representing clients in insurance disputes, employment law matters for both employees and employers and professional negligence claims (lawyers, engineers, real estate agents, and various trades).
Experience
- BA (Psychology), Concordia University of Edmonton
- LLB, University of Alberta, 2009
- Called to the Alberta Bar in 2010.
- I began my legal career practising insurance defence litigation, representing insurers and insured defendants in personal injury and other insurance-related claims. That experience gave me a strong understanding of how insurers assess, defend and resolve claims, and continues to inform the strategic advice I provide to my clients today.
- I have extensive experience in personal injury litigation, representing clients who have suffered serious and complex injuries, including traumatic brain injuries, chronic pain, orthopedic injuries, psychological injuries and other conditions that can significantly affect a person’s ability to work and function in their day-to-day life.
- My work regularly involves complex medical and expert evidence, including claims involving future care needs, loss of income and earning capacity, and the long-term consequences of injury. I work closely with medical specialists, rehabilitation professionals and other experts to ensure the full impact of an injury is properly understood and presented.
- I have represented clients at all stages of litigation, including questioning, applications, mediations and settlement negotiations, and have appeared before the Alberta Court of Justice (formerly the Provincial Court of Alberta) and the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta.
