CAM LLP supports The Mustard Seed’s mission to be agents of change in our community

November 2 2022

Our firm is deeply committed to supporting local organizations that operate to make Edmonton a caring and compassionate community. That’s one of the reasons we are proud to support The Mustard Seed. This non-profit organization has been caring for people experiencing homelessness and poverty since 1984. This year, we chose to show our support by donating funds and backpacks filled with basic needs items to Mustard Seed’s campaign for women transitioning out of incarceration.

On October 27th, Denise McGonigal and Tammy Vasseur, members of our firm, had the opportunity to visit The Mustard Seed’s facilities in Edmonton. During their visit, they met with Debbie, one of their Chaplains, who explained the broad scope of services provided as part of the transitioning program and gave them a tour of the new Wellness Centre. The centre is equipped with wellness advocates, an occupational therapist, social workers, and employment counsellors who will be helping vulnerable individuals get the aid they need. The programs range from practical help to get things like photo ID necessary for housing and other services, help with taxes, resume writing and internet access for job hunting. This week they were focused on helping Ukrainian refugee families get winter clothes.

In addition, the Mustard Seed helps to run soup kitchens, food pantries, temporary shelters and more permanent housing. The range of services is impressive, It’s humbling to witness firsthand the dedicated work the folks at the Mustard Seed are doing to improve the lives of our community’s most vulnerable members. At CAM LLP, we are honoured to be part of The Mustard Seed’s initiatives. We are inspired by their dedication and mission of helping people make positive, lasting changes. It’s organizations like this that make Edmonton a better place.

Visit The Mustard Seed to learn more about their efforts and how you can help them to continue building community and supporting change for those in need.
