Alberta Diabetes Society (ADF): Committed to Finding a Cure for Diabetes
Diabetes is one of Canada’s most common chronic diseases, affecting people regardless of age, weight, or health.
This spring, the Alberta Diabetes Foundation (ADF) is running an awareness campaign to educate people about diabetes, its prevention, and its impact on Albertans and around the world.
For over 35 years, the Alberta-based organization (located here in Edmonton at the University of Alberta!) has been committed to improving the lives of people with diabetes. They have received international recognition for world-class research that has become the foundation’s backbone.
Lindsay Burnham, Executive Director of the ADF, recently shared in an interview with Global News that “every 06 seconds someone dies of diabetes, or a complication related to this disease,” and according to the TV network, “more than 400,000 Albertans have been diagnosed with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, and this is only expected to rise.” Continue reading
